I love the River Countess. The staff is top notch!!! The food was excellent. The views on the river was amazing!!! A great trip trip to take, I recommend this cruise to everyone!

We have just returned to the UK from our Vienna to Amsterdam cruise. We enjoyed it so much.

As very experienced river cruisers,....we first discovered river cruising in 2000!!... we have travelled with many cruise specialists. However, we have never experienced the level of service and quality food that we did on the River Countess. This is surely due to the professionalism of Hotel Manager Julie and her entire team. WE made some lovely friends and look forward to travelling with Uniworld again and regularly in the near future. They really could not have been better.

Now that we are finally back and "sort of" in a routine again, we would like to take this time to thank your whole team for putting together such a wonderful, educational trip!!!  We were so happy with the Ship, River Duchess, AND her staff.....everything was first class the whole way!

I was particularly impressed with the way my allergy to garlic was handled, no cruise before has held a candle to the service your team provided!  Chef Orlando was most gracious, making all my food just as special as everyone else's, and I had not one problem the whole trip.  Thanks ... goes also to our table waiter, "Vinni" as we called him, he was an absolute charm!  The whole staff felt like family, from the engine room to the wheel house, it was a wonderful, wonderful experience!  We have absolutely NO negatives about the trip at all, from the minute we arrived at the dock in Amsterdam to the time we disembarked in Vienna!  We can not see anything we would change other than the fact we wish now we had gone the whole way to the Black Sea!!!! We just can not say enough, we are most certainly going to book another cruise with Uniworld, and would have done it from the ship but, have friends who want to do a trip too (actually they are the ones who had to cancel because of an unfortunate fall)  We need to consult with them of course to make this perfect for all of us.

We certainly hope the tips we left got to all the very deserving staff!

I can truly say that this trip was a most wondeful experience and surpassed our expectations.
From the moment we arrived in Amsterdam until we flew from Vienna we could not fault the Uniworld staff.
This is truly a wonderful way to travel and we would do it all again tomorrow.
The whole trip was outstanding,the places, the staff and crew nothing was too much trouble.
The accomadation onboard was spotless and the house staff kind and efficient. The onboard entertainment was also very enjoyable.
We experienced so much and met wonderful people and will travel this way again, the ... only problem we have now is deciding where to go. Would recommend doing the pre and post cruise tours especially to people travelling from Australia and New Zealand as it gives you time to get over the longhaul flights.

From arrival to departure we were made to feel like we were the most important guests on the ship. We covered a lot of territory and saw magnificent views. From rooftop views of Miltenberg, Germany, 2,000 year old Roman ruins and 16th Century churches. The tiny town and memorial Chapel where the famous Christmas Carole "Silent Night" was first sung and homes with bench pillows to match the shutters on the house. Not to mention all the Castles along the Rhine, Main and Danube rivers. It was the most relaxing vacation we have ever taken, right down to the last ... evening sitting on the top deck and watching the moon rise over Vienna. This cruise was everything that I hoped it would be. Starting in Amsterdam we got to see Rembrandt's in the museum. Then on to the river where we could see the windmills in the fields. Coming into Cologne the air raid alarm was sounding. An eerie reminder of the past. The guides did a great job in explaining the local history and showing pictures of the devastation of WW2 and the rebuilding that the Germans did. The trip down the Rhine through the Riesling section was stunning. we were able to purchase local wines and have them shipped home. The ... scenery with the old villages and castles was breathtaking. My family is from Frankfurt but we cant trace back because of the destruction of public files from the war but it was so exciting to be where my ancestors were from. The small villages that we visited were so old and the buildings so intact. The trip to Salzburg was great. Felt I could see the movie scenes. We visited the castle on the hill and ate lunch looking out at the alps and the snow covered peaks. On to Vienna where our guide was great. History in short form. The ship was very comfortable and the crew were great. Food was too good. my husband and I would say we would eat light for lunch but the chef made that hard to do. Our guide for the trip tony was wonderful. Accommodating to the older guests and very cheerful. From start to finish this was a wonderful relaxing way to see all the Rhine to Main to Danube river area. You Could actually see the different regions of Germany. I would reccomend this trip to anyone. People who are younger might have heard that only older people go on these cruises and we were among the youngest but the trip was wonderful. It makes it so easy to unpack the first day and the hotel comes along with you! what's easier than that. we do plan to take another trip with you next year to France and are looking at the grand France tour. We absolutely fell in love with Uniworld a couple of years ago. We went on the Tulips and Windmills tour of Holland and had a great time. We love the pace of the cruise, the fact that we usually were docked right at the town centre and were able to walk to those lovely "old town" attractions. We met some wonderful people and are still maintaining those friendships via e-mails. In fact we enjoyed that trip so much, we came home and booked for the European Serenade for August of 2009. Once again we loved ... this trip, met the most incredible people from Canada and Australia. Having fewer guests on the ship really gives you wonderful time and opportunity to meet and get to know your fellow travellers and once again we have made more friendships that are continuing on. Not only are they continuing on....we have now booked for the Burgundy/Provence trip in July of 2011 and some of our friends from the European Serenade trip are joining us on that trip as well. All in all if you love great food, wine, people and enjoy a relaxed pace seeing history at your feet, this is the type of travel for you. This is not about hanging out at the pool, casino, etc. there usually aren't pools on these smaller ships, but who needs them. We certainly plan on doing many more Uniworld tours...trust me this isn't just for seniors we were 48 on our first tour and just keep coming back!!! Read More...

I thoroughly enjoyed my cruise on the Rhine/Main/Danube rivers. The ship itself and the staff were wonderful. The staff in particular were helpful, courteous, friendly, knowledgeable- I could go on. The itinerary was good- a mix of cities and villages with mostly excellent local guides. The camaraderie that developed amongst the passengers was a delightful bonus- especially for myself traveling alone. I enjoyed some of the best conversation I have had in a long time. The pace is quite leisurely and I personally would prefer a little more activity, but that would be my ONLY change.
