We have returned from an exquisite Paris-Normandy experience. Uniworld provided Route Marine transfer from CDG: Our driver, Fabrice from was a delight and full of information. We were fortunate to have him drive us for all transfers on the trip; we were his only passengers in a new luxury vehicle. From the moment we boarded the River Baroness, greeted personally by Hotel Director, Sebastian, we were charmed by his effortless efficiency, patience, and supervision.
Our suite, #215, was spacious and suitably, Napoleonic (1800-10) French decorated. The daily food plates, daily laundry service, complimentary Burgundy wine, in ...
addition to regular services, made our suite extraordinary. I booked an extended massage with Elena which was exhilarating. The fitness room has new machines so I could row, bike, and jog many miles, as we sailed each day. My husband enjoyed the lounge and sundeck during sailing.
We made wonderful new friends from New York City, Texas, Florida, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. A Rotary meeting was held, which my husband attended. Barbara, from Rouen via Roma, was our excursion guide for three guide adventures. She is zesty and zingy. Jean-Loius, a dancer, was our guide for Giverny. They were both the best we have known in our years of travels. All excursions satisfy intellectual curiosity as well as providing choices for robust activity, if one is inclined for maximizing adventures. We were docked in Rouen for Bastille Day and River Baroness gave us special treats and champagne, for our Sun/Stars Deck viewing of the Bastille Day Fireworks and Music show.
Special mention for the hotel cleaning and laundry staff. Standards are exceptional. Clean laundry was returned each day, after dinner.
Meals are beyond dreams: Martina directs a cordon bleu crew. Peter Struhar, executive chef, is visible in the dining room and a wonderful personality--ready to accommodate every request. His kitchen's ice creams are note-worthy! The al fresco experience, in the covered Sun Deck room, was unparalleled. We were at Captain's Table for Captain's Farewell Dinner. Captain Jacky Leclerc commands with a velvet personality. Best for last: Emmanuelle, Cruise Director, is a delight. She is the shining essence of everything we love about Uniworld.
