The S.S. La Venezia: An Ode to Venetian Style

S.S. La Venezia

We designed the S.S. La Venezia to celebrate the city’s history of artistic movements, immersing guests in Venetian style and antiquity. What better way to enjoy one of the key art centers of the world than from aboard this exquisitely crafted ship?

Much of the décor is influenced by local design house, Fortuny, creators of fine, handmade printed fabrics since 1907 and made famous by their timeless ‘Delphos’ gown. Their legacy and timeless artistry is echoed in the lobby, which strikes a bold resemblance to Mariano Fortuny’s 1930s showroom in Giudecca. These exquisite Venetian fabrics are an elegant homage to mid-century Italian style, sweeping floor to ceiling throughout the ship.

Every space celebrates Venice. Whether guests stay in a classic stateroom, one of the four suites, or one of the two grand suites, they will experience the unmistakable essence of the city from the meticulously orchestrated décor. The detailed craftsmanship adopts local history through the hand-made and exclusively selected furniture, ornaments, and textures. Taking on local traditions of print, etching, and gilding, each room is masterfully designed for an immersive experience of Venice. Glimpse the gentle sway of gondolas through Fortuny drapes, layered artfully with splashes of leopard-print—a nod to Italian haute couture—and earthy tones, the overall effect evoking the swirls and pops of color in blown glass, another famous craft of the floating city.

Guests will enjoy the artistic touches of the ship as they stroll the marble or brass-inlaid parquet floors. They will see echoes of the portico of the landmark bridges in the patterns of the fabrics, or a reference to the local fish dishes, the basis of classic Venetian cuisine, from the soft glow of the Murano lamps, exquisitely crafted into shells.
