Day 1 – Basel (embark)

Arrive at EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg Airport, where you will be transferred to the ship.

Day 2 – Strasbourg

FEATURED EXCURSION: Gargoyle hunting in Alsace
Cruise the fabled canals of Petite France. Go on a hunt for the leering gargoyles in the Cathedral of Notre Dame, and then discover one of the most famous residents of Alsace, the white stork, perched in huge nests atop Strasbourg’s slanted rooftops.

Day 3 – Cruising the Rhine River, Mannheim (Heidelberg or Nierstein), Nierstein

FEATURED EXCURSIONS: Culinary treasure hunt & vineyard tour
In A Tramp Abroad, Mark Twain portrays the Neckar River and Heidelberg Castle as “serene” and “charming.” Follow in Twain’s literary footsteps and take in the red sandstone ruins majestically perched above the town. Set off on a culinary treasure hunt in search of the legendary chocolate confection, “Student Kisses.” Enjoy a tractor ride with a nature guide on the famous Red Slope in the vineyards of Nierstein, and then cap the day off with a visit to a paleontology museum.

Day 4 – Cruising the Main River, Miltenberg

FEATURED EXCURSION: Miltenberg village day
Artists and athletes will enjoy an eclectic day of fun in Miltenberg with its famous crooked houses. Join a local artist at her studio for an art class, try your hand at lawn bowling, bike along the Main and hike up to the castle ruins.

Day 5 – Cruising the Main River, Würzburg

FEATURED EXCURSION: Franconian amusement park
Spend a full day at one of Bavaria’s largest amusement parks, Freizeit-Land Geiselwind. The site started out as a showcase for a collection of exotic birds, and grew over time into a wonderful amusement park, complete with a thrilling tower-drop ride, a classic double-loop rollercoaster, a giant waterslide and flume ride, as well as a petting zoo, a playground, glassblowers, face painters and lots of gentle rides for younger children.

Day 6 – Kitzingen (Rothenburg) cruising the Main River

Accompany Rothenburg’s Night Watchman through fairytale streets as he brings the Middle Ages to life and takes you on a treasure hunt. For even more medieval adventures, discover the Medieval Crime and Justice Museum with more than 1,000 years of history.

Day 7 – Bamberg

FEATURED EXCURSION: Bamberg city hunt
Team up with your family to explore the city with the help of an iPad and its GPS-enabled map, compass, camera and motion sensors. Solve riddles and other team challenges along the way—a fun and invigorating way to get acquainted with one of Germany’s prettiest cities.

Day 8 – Nuremberg

FEATURED EXCURSIONS: Toy treasures OR WWII-era landmarks
The medieval walled city of Nuremberg is home to many famous events, as well as inspiring inventions, such as toys and pocket watches. You have two choices. Either visit the Toy Museum with one of the world’s largest toy collections, or be guided to some of the many reminders of WWII before transferring to Prague.

Day 9 – Nuremberg, cruising the Main-Danube Canal

Take a seat on the Sun Deck and watch the ship navigate through the 16 locks of the 106-mile stretch of the Main- Danube Canal as you travel through one of the modern world’s greatest engineering feats.

Day 10 – Regensburg

You have two choices to experience the best of Germany. Tour the state-of-the-art BMW factory, where nearly a thousand cars a day roll off the assembly line; you’ll see skilled technicians and computer-controlled robots assemble “the ultimate driving machine.” Or join a guided walk through one of Germany’s best-preserved medieval towns with 2,000 years of history.

Day 11 – Deggendorf (Theresienthal), cruising the Danube River, Passau

FEATURED EXCURSION: A Bavarian adventure
Start your Bavarian adventure in Straubing, experiencing its Old Town filled with history, culture, fun and tradition. Enjoy biking along the river, tasting Bavarian-style hamburgers, hearing a spooky tale at the Castle of the Counts and seeing the only complete Roman armor suit ever found in Germany from more than 2,000 years ago. Later in the day, take a horse-drawn wagon ride through the Bavarian Forest, where you’ll get to visit a world-famous glass workshop to see firsthand how Bohemian crystal is made, and you can even try making it yourself.

Day 12 – Passau, Engelhartszell

FEATURED EXCURSIONS: Raft down the “Black Pearl” & bike the Danube
Your guided walking discovery tour of Passau is a fine introduction to this charming and well-preserved town, strategically situated at the confluence of three rivers. You will also have free time to roam on your own. Or, cycle along one of the most scenic sections of the Danube’s riverside bike path with an expert guide.

Day 13 – Weissenkirchen (Weissenkirchen or Melk), cruising the Wachau Valley

FEATURED EXCURSION: Vineyard treasure hunt hike
Get an up-close look at Europe’s renowned vineyards on a treasure hunt led by an expert nature guide as you discover the local flora and fauna.

Day 14 – Vienna

FEATURED EXCURSIONS: A royal experience with Lipizzaner stallions and Schönbrunn Palace
Take a Segway tour through Prater Park and ride the famous Ferris wheel. Experience Vienna’s imperial side from the Spanish Riding School for the royal Lipizzaner stallions, and at the Children’s Museum for a day-in-the-life of Empress Sissi and Emperor Franz.

Day 15 – Vienna (disembark), transfer to the airport

Disembark the ship and transfer to Vienna International Airport for your flight home, or extend your stay in Vienna.
