Day to Day:

  • Multifaceted Hanoi and breathtaking Ha Long and Lan Ha Bay will be sure to captivate you on this five-day pre-cruise/tour extension. Between Hanoi’s centuries-old architecture, enchanting pagodas and verdant landscapes, there’s much to be explored in Vietnam’s burgeoning capital city. Ha Long Bay is an extraordinary natural wonder—an open-air geological museum and UNESCO World Heritage Site. An invigorating exploration of the bay, its islands and Hanoi are the perfect way to launch your Mekong River adventure.

    DAY 1: Hanoi
Once you’ve arrived at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi, you’ll be greeted by a Uniworld representative who will help you with your luggage and take you to your luxury hotel. After check-in, you may choose to rest at the hotel or go out and explore the city. Your local host will be happy to offer suggestions, such as a stop at the nearby Kim Lien Pagoda. The stunning 800-year-old temple, whose name means “golden lotus,” is considered one of the most beautiful temples in Hanoi.

DAY 2: Ha Long & Lan Ha Bay
Today, you’ll explore what has been called Asia’s most beautiful bay. Drive through the beautiful countryside, with a rest stop en route. Once you have arrived at the marina, journey by speedboat to the Paradise Grand where you will get the chance to meet the captain and crew and then attend a brief safety introduction. Once you have settled into your cabin, enjoy a buffet-style lunch in the luxurious dining room. Make sure to not miss the stunning views as you sail through the islets of Con Vit, Thumb and the Gia Luan Harbor. Marvel at their well-known limestone formations, karsts, across the waters.

Sunbathe and enjoy the wild and fresh air as we drop anchor in Lan Ha Bay at Ba Trai Dao Beach. Take the opportunity to swim or kayak in the clear blue sea and relax in the fine white sand. Weather permitting.

Enjoy the sunset on our deck as you mingle with the other passengers onboard. Then, gain hands-on experience in Vietnamese cuisine by learning how to make traditional Vietnamese spring rolls as our onboard chef guides you during a cooking demonstration. Happy hour and live music are available in the Piano Lounge.

Once your culinary crash course has finished, enjoy an a la carte dinner in the Paradise Grand restaurant.

    DAY 3: Lan Ha Bay
Get an early start to the day by participating in Tai Chi on the sundeck. Focus the mind and condition the body as we sail through the beautiful karsts and islands along the Lan Ha Bay. Celebrate your efforts by enjoying a light breakfast with a panoramic view. Following breakfast, it is time to disembark and board a speedboat that will take you to Cat Ba island where you will travel by bus to Trung Trang cave, one of the most beautiful caves in Cat Ba National Park. You’ll drive further into Cat Ba to get to Tung Thu island for an authentic Vietnamese lunch, followed by an hour trekking in the National Park before heading back to the Paradise Grand for a cooking demonstration, happy hour and an a la carte dinner.

    DAY 4: Hanoi
Recharge for the new day by taking a Tai Chi session on our sun deck early in the morning. Savor a local light breakfast before heading to the Toi and Sang cave also known as the Dark and Bright cave. You will be given the chance to enter these caves either by yourself in a kayak or on a bamboo boat rowed by locals. Both caves allow you to take in the beauty of nature by allowing you to see the erosion of the limestone karsts caused by water. Head back to the ship, where you will check out of your room and then be treated to a Vietnamese buffet-styled brunch. Disembark and then return to Hanoi via the highway for a city tour with visits to the Ho Chi Minh mausoleum complex, the Old Quarter (which you will tour via electric car), the Temple of Literature and the Hoa Lo Prison Museum. Wrap up the day with dinner at an authentic local restaurant before checking back into the hotel from the start of your extension.

    DAY 5: Hanoi
Your extension may be over, but there’s much more to discover as you fly to Ho Chi Minh City and embark on your cruise/tour.

  • Multifaceted Hanoi and breathtaking Ha Long Bay will be sure to captivate you on this five-day post-cruise/tour extension. An invigorating exploration of the bay, its islands and Hanoi is the perfect way to end your adventure.

    DAY 1: Hanoi
Once you’ve arrived at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi, you’ll be greeted by a Uniworld representative who will help you with your luggage and take you downtown to jump right into a tour of Vietnam’s capital city. Visit the Ho Chi Minh mausoleum complex, the resting place of President & Vietnamese Revolution leader Ho Chi Minh. Stroll through the botanical gardens, monuments, and sacred temples before heading to the Temple of Literature. This ancient temple, dedicated to Confucius, philosophers and scholars, provides a picturesque look at some of Vietnam’s traditional architecture. You will then visit the Hoa Lo Prison Museum, otherwise known as the “Hanoi Hilton.” This prison provides a unique look at how French colonists imprisoned Vietnamese political figures in French Indochina, and how during the Vietnam War North Vietnam used the prison to incarcerate American soldiers. After your tour concludes, take an electric car through Hanoi’s Old Quarter and indulge in a local meal before checking into the Intercontinental Westlake hotel.
