Uniworld is thrilled to announce that Leora Raikin will be joining us onboard for a second time as part of our Signature Lecture Series. We invite you to join us onboard the August 4, 2019 sailing of our Jewish Heritage programme, Authentic Danube & Prague, with an exclusive opportunity to experience Leora's newest lecture, "Viewing History Through an Artist’s Lens."
Leora Raikin is a South-African born, Los Angeles-based international speaker, artist, curator, lecturer and author with a zeal for educating audiences on an array of subjects through art. She travels the world to speak at highly acclaimed institutions, temples and Jewish organizations, including the Skirball Cultural Centre, Durban Holocaust Centre, Merage Jewish Community Centre of Orange County and many more.
She lectures on the artwork of her great uncle, Lithuanian-Israeli artist David Labkovski, who chronicled his life through a series of beautiful and sometimes heartbreaking paintings about how his life in a once-thriving Jewish community was turned upside down by the Holocaust. Her great uncle’s art inspired her to launch the David Labkovski Project, where she assumed the role of executive director. The project’s mission is to educate audiences on the Holocaust through his experiences and artistic expression, with an emphasis on “bearing witness to history.”
