Travel Documents

Obtaining required travel documents is the sole responsibility of the guest. Requirements vary by country and are subject to change at any time. Please check with the government agencies of the countries you will be visiting for the most recent information.

Additional information, by country, for South African passport holders

All information provided below is for reference only and is subject to change. Visa regulations and processes are determined by the countries visited and your local consulates, who may make changes at their discretion. It is your responsibility to confirm any details with your travel agent, visa provider or consulate, and to obtain and carry the correct travel documents.

Egypt

Guests may obtain a single-entry tourist visa for stays of up to 30 days which may be obtained on arrival at Cairo airport free of charge.

India

A single-entry visa is required for our India programs. Most nationalities are eligible for an e-visa and can apply online. You are also required to upload your biometric information to VFS Global prior to travel.

Israel

A visa is not required for South African passport holders. Passport must be valid six months from the end of your stay. Travellers must also be able to provide proof of sufficient funds for their stay as well as proof of return ticket.

Jordan

A single-entry visa is required for our Jordan programs. South African passport holders may obtain a visa on arrival in Jordan if arriving at Queen Alia airport under the following circumstances:

• Guests with a scheduled Uniworld transfer will be eligible to be part of a free group visa that our vendor will secure for the group upon arrival at Queen Alia Airport.
• Guests arriving outside of our transfer guidelines can obtain a visa on their own upon arrival at Queen Alia Airport for a cost of JOD 40 per person; this must be paid in Jordanian currency. Credit cards are not accepted. There is a bank in the airport where guests can exchange money to pay for their visa.

Please note that passport must be valid for at least six months beyond date of arrival in Jordan.

Should guests be arriving by a port of entry other than the airport, a visa may be required in advance. Please check with relevant government agency.

Peru

A visa is not required for visitors from South Africa who hold valid passports.

Cambodia

Entry and exit occur during the cruise/tour program. Our local team will assist guests with obtaining a visa on arrival.

• For programs beginning in Hanoi guests must apply for a visa online prior to arrival. The port of entry for Cambodia will be Siem Reap International Airport (REP).
• For programs beginning in Ho Chi Minh City, the point of entry for Cambodia will be Phnom Penh Port for border crossing. The visa will be issued by an Immigration officer during the cruise/tour. Guests must bring $50 USD (cash) to receive a visa.

Vietnam

Two single entry visas are required for our Vietnam programs. To obtain these, guests will require a Vietnamese Immigration Letter which Uniworld will provide to you. The cost for this letter is $350 USD per person and must be paid to Uniworld alongside providing the following:

• A letter from Uniworld once paid in full
• Flight itinerary for issued tickets
• Travel insurance
• Colour copies of passports
• 2x colour photos

Please note that it takes approximately 15 working days for Vietnamese Immigration to process this letter.

Once the Vietnamese Immigration Letter is obtained, guests will then be able to apply for visas.

• You will need two single entry e-visas. For guests travelling from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi:
  • First Entry checkpoint: Tan Son Nhat International airport.
  • First Exit checkpoint: Song Tien Landport.
  • Second Entry checkpoint: Noi Bai International airport.
  • Second Exit checkpoint: Noi Bai International airport.
• You will need two single entry e-visas. For guests travelling from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City:
  • First Entry checkpoint: Noi Bai International airport.
  • First Exit checkpoint: Noi Bai International airport.
  • Second Entry checkpoint: Song Tien Landport.
  • Second Exit checkpoint: Tan Son Nhat International airport.

European Schengen Countries

A multiple entry Schengen visa is required for South African passport holders for visits to the following countries:

• Italy
• France
• Portugal
• Spain
• Germany
• The Netherlands
• Austria
• Hungary
• Switzerland
• Belgium
• Czech Republic
• Slovakia

The visa must be applied for with the country where you are spending the longest amount of time. If you are spending the same number of nights in each country, you must apply with the country you are entering first.

The cost of a multiple entry Schengen visa is approximately ZAR 2 000 per person plus service fees of approximately ZAR 1 000 per person. These visas can take up to 6 weeks to process and can only be applied for within 3 months of departure.

NB: for guests travelling on ‘Highlights of Eastern Europe’, ‘Portraits of Eastern Europe’, ‘Ultimate European Journey’ or ‘Cruise and Rail: Castles of Transylvania and Enchanting Danube’, you must start and end these itineraries in a Schengen country (not in transit). Guests who do not start and end in a Schengen country will require up to 7 separate visas (not recommended).

Please also note that, although the following countries are not part of the Schengen Area, entry will be permitted on a Schengen C visa if it covers your full stay:
