If your offer is accepted, you’ll be upgraded into your new stateroom. If your offer isn’t accepted, you’ll still enjoy the same outstanding service and all-inclusive luxurious amenities that come standard on every Uniworld river cruise.
How do stateroom upgrades work?
Placing an offer to upgrade your stateroom couldn’t be easier. Here’s everything you need to know about the Category+ program.
Browse through the stateroom options available on your sailing and select the amount you’re willing to offer for each upgrade. Placing an offer on multiple staterooms will increase your chances of being upgraded, but you'll only ever pay for one upgrade.
If your offer is approved, we'll notify you via email and your credit card will be charged for the specific upgrade offer that is accepted. You will receive a new invoice via email from our reservations team with your new stateroom category and number, which will be assigned based on availability.
If you are not upgraded, we'll notify you via email. Your original stateroom will remain unchanged, and you can keep your original invoice that you already have. Your credit card will not be charged any additional amount.

What does it mean when I receive an email invite to upgrade?
If you've received a Category+ email invite, that means you can now start placing offers to upgrade your stateroom category on your upcoming cruise.
Please note: Submitting an upgrade offer does not guarantee an upgrade nor does this program guarantee availability in any particular stateroom category. Most offers are evaluated between 14 and 3 days before departure and are accepted or not accepted based on the offer amount and stateroom availability.
What if I am already waitlisted for a certain stateroom category?
Uniworld will prioritize waitlist requests ahead of Category+ upgrade offers if the requested stateroom category becomes available.
Is the offer amount I am submitting in addition to the cost of my original booking?
Yes, any amount you offer for an upgrade is in addition to the cost of your original booking.
How is the total upgrade price calculated?
Your upgrade offer is priced per person, based on double occupancy, for the entire duration of the cruise. If your booking includes three passengers, the offered amount will only be charged for the first and second passenger on the booking. If you are a single passenger, you will be charged based on double occupancy.
Please note, this stateroom upgrade opportunity is only valid on the cruise portion of your booking and is not applicable to any land portion hotel stays.
What happens with the promotions I already have applied to my booking?
You get to keep the promotions you already have applied to your booking. However, no additional promotions will be added to your booking.
What happens if I am travelling as part of a group?
Each booking is considered individually, and Uniworld cannot guarantee that all bookings travelling together will be upgraded, if any. Under the circumstance that all bookings are upgraded, Uniworld cannot guarantee that all the upgraded staterooms will be close together.
What happens if I purchased travel protection?
If you have Uniworld's Gold Seal Protection on your current booking, you will be automatically charged to cover the upgrade cost. If you have travel protection via your travel professional or insurance provider, please contact them to add your upgrade to your coverage.
When will I know if my upgrade offer is accepted?
You will be notified via email if your upgrade offer is accepted. Your offer can be accepted anytime from the moment it is submitted up until 3 days prior to departure.
Can I choose the location of the upgraded stateroom?
No, your stateroom location will depend on availability. Uniworld cannot guarantee a specific stateroom number assignment within the upgraded category.
Can I modify or cancel my upgrade offer after I submit it?
You may modify or cancel your offer up to 5 days prior to your departure, provided that your offer has not already been accepted by Uniworld.
How can I change the credit card I used to submit an upgrade offer?
In order to change the credit card number, you will need to cancel your existing upgrade offer(s) and re-submit your upgrade offer(s) using the new payment information.
Can I reject the upgrade after it has been accepted?
No, once your bid is accepted, your card will be charged immediately, and the upgrade amount paid is final and non-refundable.
